Luciano Montisci

 

is known for his work with the Launeddas, the traditional wind instrument of Sardinia. He is one of the most renowned makers of Launeddas, dedicating his life to the preservation and dissemination of this ancient musical instrument.

 

Montisci was born and raised in Sardinia, where he developed a deep passion for Launeddas from a young age. He was a student of Maestro Luigi Lai, one of the most important figures in the Launeddas tradition.

 

In 1991, after Lai's Launeddas were stolen in Milan, Montisci reconstructed the master's instruments, demonstrating his exceptional craftsmanship and commitment to preserving the tradition. He uses traditional methods and natural materials, such as reeds, beeswax, and pitch, to create instruments that are valued not only for their authentic sound but also for their aesthetics and durability.

 

His dedication and talent have contributed significantly to keeping the Launeddas tradition alive.

Graziano Montisci

 

from an early age, began studying the Launeddas under the guidance of his father Luciano.

 

When he was only 14 years old, Graziano continued his education at the Civic School of Music in Cagliari, where he studied with the renowned Maestro Luigi Lai. Graziano Montisci is distinguished for his commitment to the dissemination of traditional Launeddas music.

 

He was one of the first to publish video tutorials on YouTube, making learning this ancient instrument accessible to a global audience.
